Vineyard Diary

12th January 2011

All is going well in the vineyard this month. Things have really rocketed ahead with the frequent rain showers and sunshine. After near drought conditions in Marlborough mid December we welcomed some very big rain events. One of these trapped me, along with many others, in the Marlborough Sounds without power for a few days. Worse places to be marooned I am sure.

Bunch closure sprays are on. Just in time I might add, as canopies and berries grew very rapidly. Thanks again to Grapeworx for their tireless wire-lifting and Dave Pigou from A-Z contracting for the Collard leaf defoliation machine. With everything seemingly in control there was still time for a spot of fishing. Well done William Hammond.
