Vineyard Diary
October 2011
Pruning is completed now and the buds are being counted. It seems we are having quite a late start to Spring and things appear around a week behind normal. We had sheep grazing the vineyard over the winter and this has helped quell the spring flush of grass and kept herbicide application to a minimum. Over the coming weeks the buds will emerge and we will begin once again the cycle.
Large rains in Marlborough over the last week have been welcomed as we were experiencing a long, dry spell.
Let’s hope the cherry blossoms coincide with a win for the ABs in the Rugby World Cup later in the month.
